As a public relations and consumer engagement specialist, I will tell you, this is one of the most informative infographics out there. Although number 30 is a 50-50 for me.
I have personally seen a large scale social media campaigns or contests that have resulted in consistent engagement from that brand’s fans over several months. Sure that may sound short term but the loyalty and following are there is you keep it up. Campaign’s i’ve assisted in have see an increase in page likes upwards of about 33%.
My top 3 favorite tips from this infographic are:
“Don’t make people do X,Y and Z. Stick with X.” In other words, don’t make consumers go through more than one click-through to get to your contest, donation page, interview, checkout, whatever.(ain’t nobody got time for all that. it’s disengaging.)
“If all you do is respond to complaints, that’s all people will send you.” While valuable consumer feedback shouldn’t be ignored, the people that complain about waiting an extra five minutes, or there not being enough flavors or your product, acknowledge them with a “Thank you for your feedback or thanks for letting us know.” Then, go forward with the discussion with store management etc., don’t give tedious complainers a soapbox, and always show praise to positive contributors. If they’re a loyal follower, with reach, send them a token of appreciation.”
“Don’t use ads [or promoted post] to prop up boring content, use them to accelerate successful content.”
If you have social media advice or pointers, always feel free to share! 🙂
